Sound Redesign
It was an honour to play through the remake of Silent Hill 2 from Bloober Team.
The thing that improved the experience massively from the original release for me is the audio. (Sound Designer moment, I know)
As much as I love the 2001 release, the diegetic audio there always kept me distracted, especially the footsteps with no variations.
What's interesting is that in the Team Silent production videos, you can see there are many variations per step, so I guess it got cut due to memory limitations. [*]
The Remake did a great job at expanding the audio for current technology while staying within the original style of sound, leaving many cues as they were, or as a layer - Insane job on that one guys!
While working on this redesign I realized that I have the same exact M65 jacket as James, so I had all the fun with recording the movements (:
I've also recorded James's efforts and breathing, where I wanted to reference the original game that had him way more detached from the world. Nice words for me just being bad at acting. What I like doing while recording stuff like that is to get into that physical body state, so I recorded me doing way more pushups than I thought I could.
