Budget Repairs Sound Design
For my job application test for Majster Symulator, I designed a wide range of sounds that bring chaotic DIY home repairs to life. The challenge was to capture the clunky, rough, and sometimes disastrous nature of amateur renovation.
Power Tools & Cutting
- π© Placing the drill before drilling
- π Small drill in action
- π¦ Taking the drill out of the store
- π Dropping the drill into the cart with other items
- ποΈ Subtle UI sound when browsing drills in the shop
- πͺ Hand saw cutting a door
- βοΈ Saw movement before cutting
- π₯ Saw falling to the ground
Store Ambiance
- π¬ Construction store ambiance
- π Shopping cart movement
- π² "Cash register down" sound
Tiles & Breaking Sounds
- πͺ¨ Placing tiles before installation
- π Laying down tiles
- β Peeling off a tile, dropping, and cracking it on the floor
- π οΈ Taping a tile to the wall (a strong "slap" sound)
Painting & Construction
- π¨ Pouring paint and water into a bucket
- ποΈ Rolling paint onto the wall
- 𧱠Placing bricks with UI interaction
- πͺ Placing a window on bricks
- β¬οΈ Window falling from a height
Falls & Miscellaneous
- π‘ Chandelier falling onto a carpet
- πͺ Piece of door falling onto a plastic-covered floor
- π€ Lifting a door
- πͺ Installing a door
- β "Star pop" sound effect and animated text effect
- π Quest completion sound
This redesign was created as part of my job application test for Majster Symulator.
Majster Symulator is a chaotic budget renovation simulator where things can go hilariously wrong.
